Launching Doctales

After writing about the difference between DNR and “don not treat,” other physicians reached out to me letting me know that they were having trouble dealing with this same issue. I have been doing Rural Doc Alan podcasts on pregnancy issues for two years, but suddenly realized conversations with other physicians and healthcare providers about the state of medicine was a great opportunity to put a very human face on physicians.

With the demise of primary practice medicine, patients have lost the connection with much that is human about physicians. Social media has provided an expansive platform for patients to complain about physicians, often over issues physicians are unable to fix.

Physicians talking with physicians about their genuine concerns over patient care seemed like a good way to perhaps begin to turn some of the misunderstanding of physicians around.
